Caravan sites are ringing with the sound of music – because Brits love singing in the shower and their tunes travel over the open space. New research reveals that bathrooms are the favourite place for Brits who want belt out their top tunes.
A huge 86% admitted singing in the shower, with one in three proud wannabes believing they have a great singing voice. The top shower anthem was voted as Madonna’s famous hit, Like a Virgin, followed by Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody. What's more, a quarter of Brits say the habit has even caused arguments after annoying others living in the house.
The survey of 1,299 UK adults, carried out by interiors retailer Furniture123.co.uk, found that the car (19%) and the kitchen (14%) came in second and third place as the favourite place for Brits to croon. Despite being mad for music, a quarter of Brits say the habit has caused arguments due to annoying others living in the house. Of those who regularly sing in the shower, it is males who prove to be the biggest shower songbirds (53%), followed by females (47%).
Mark Kelly, marketing manager at Furniture123.co.uk said: ‘With bathrooms becoming more and more style-focussed, it’s inevitable that people are going to be increasingly enjoying the time they spend in there. As a result, they’ll be happier during the time they spend in there, whether unwinding in the bath or freshening up in the shower.
“Singing is an obvious way of expressing happiness and what better time to do that than at the start or end of your day – which are typically the most common times to freshen up.
“Although the habit is proving to be a bone of contention for some sharing homes with these songbirds, it’s important to remember that when they’re singing, they’re happy – and that’s what we want to see isn’t it. They say if you can’t beat them, join them!”
