40 caravanning enthusiasts travelling overland via the Silk Road from Düsseldorf to China’s capital

Dragon dances, drumrolls, fanfares, popping champagne corks and smiling faces – at the end of the journey half way around the world, travellers were in for a spectacular welcome in China’s capital. 40 caravaners received a warm welcome at the All in CARAVANING trade fair as honorary guests. The travel group from Germany, Switzerland and France was on tour for ten weeks, crossing nine countries and covering 16,137 kilometres over land.

The world’s biggest fair for mobile vacationing CARAVAN SALON boasts new record figures. Thanks to an additional exhibition hall CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF from 26 August to 3 September 2017 will be as big as ever. A total of 600 national and international exhibitors with 130 caravan and motor home brands will be presenting their innovations and current models in thirteen halls as well as on the outdoor exhibition space. On 214,000 square metres to the tune of 2,100 recreational vehicles in all conceivable sizes and versions can be marvelled at.

Defender Bird Spikes are manufactured by Jones and Son Pest Control Supplies in the UK. From their warehouse in Devon they send spikes all over the world, however it was a small installation in their home county that provided their latest triumph. Dave Jones, the company’s director and spike inventor explained; “Mrs Jackson, who owns a holiday cottage on the South Devon coastline called to say their customers were having issues with jackdaws, pigeons and doves roosting in the guttering overlooking the patio of the holiday cottage. Firstly, we established that the birds were using this roosting spot during the early hours of the morning whilst waiting for a neighbour nearby to come and scatter stale bread for the local bird population.

Calor 6kg lite cylinder update from Calor

Following the recent announcement that the current 6kg Calor Lite (the ‘6kg Lite’) cylinder is to be phased out and replaced with an improved version, Calor would like to address the concerns raised by members of the caravanning and motorhome community and to reassure its customers that it continues to invest heavily in the market, with research already underway for its next generation leisure cylinder.


The company can now also confirm that all existing 6kg Calor Lite customers* will be able to swap to this new cylinder, when it is launched, completely free of charge.

Specialist IT company enters new market

Following a successful eight week trial period, Lancashire-based holiday park operator, Ribby Hall, has awarded a Northumberland-based IT start-up firm operating in the communications infrastructure sector, a major new contract to bring superfast and reliable WiFi to its holiday village.


Set up in December 2015, by directors Claire Hollyman and Kev Latimer, Trench Networks Limited (Trench Networks) created Outpost a one-box, wireless internet access solution using sophisticated technology designed by Mr Latimer.
