Cambridgeshire based insurance broker Lifesure celebrates its 50th anniversary by sharing the stories and experiences of some of its most loyal customers throughout the past five decades. Family-owned Lifesure, which specialise in providing personal lines insurance to the UK leisure sector with a customer-centric and personal service, is celebrating 50 years of business. This important business milestone will be marked by a series of commissioned artwork by local artist Georgina Westwood. The unique artwork will reflect the personal stories of some of Lifesure’s most loyal customers and illustrate how the leisure industry has changed and evolved since 1972, when the company was founded. Memorabilia, including this unique reflection of the leisure industry, has been produced for its staff, customers, and competition winners to share in the celebrations. In addition to the commissioned artwork, Lifesure has several local and community planned events throughout the year. The aim of these events is for the business to give back to the local area where the company was first established and remains, and to thank its team for the part, they play in Lifesure’s ongoing success. One day to walk 100km – park chief’s charity challenge
A Darlington holiday park director is preparing to walk a punishing 100km in a single day to raise awareness of a rare illness from which his nephew suffers. Gilbert Maguire has already raised a staggering £70,000 to support his bid which will fund research into a genetic condition called Niemann-Pick for which there is no cure. Gilbert’s nephew, Asa Burnside who also lives near Darlington, needs daily morphine due to his condition, and his parents were told he would not live to see his second birthday. But the toddler reached that milestone in March this year, and celebrated it with his parents Elizabeth and Joe and his sisters Elizabeth and Julianna. Gilbert, who is a director of Maguires Country Parks and the uncle of Asa, said that he and his family never dreamed he would still be with them for his second birthday: “My aim now is to raise awareness of this condition, and though there is nothing we can do for Asa there is the hope that research could eventually find a cure,” he said. “The disease is fatal and there is no treatment, other than palliative care. Asa gets morphine every hour, and has a feeding tube as his muscles are too weak to swallow. “It’s an absolutely awful condition, but I’m so proud of how they are coping as a family – and that’s one of the reasons I wanted to do this fundraising walk. “The support I’ve received has been absolutely phenomenal, and the donations have come from both friends and family, and many more people we don’t even know,” said Gilbert. He will be walking 100 kilometres from Berwick Upon Tweed to Longhorsley in Northumberland within 24 hours, starting at 6.00am on Saturday 18 June. If all goes well, Gilbert hopes to finish by 2.00am the following day. The money raised will go to Newmann-Pick UK (NPUK) which provides support for people living with or affected by the disease, and also funds research into the condition. He has been preparing with the help of fitness trainers Distinct Performance, and with members of Geneva Road Evangelical Church, where he attends. CAMPERS are in a state of shock after spotting Queen Elizabeth enjoying a caravan holiday in the United Kingdom. The monarch was spotted by eagle-eyed holidaymakers, who were stunned to see her reversing her Coachman Kimberley into a pitch at Swingate Farm, in the East Midlands. Her Majesty was later filmed flipping burgers on a barbecue and filming a TikTok dance, clearly enjoying a few days of quiet convalescence ahead of her hectic Platinum Jubilee schedule. Joined by her corgi companion, Queen Lizzie enjoyed exploring the campsite’s grounds and petting the ponies in the stables. Fran Prince, who spotted the Queen while reading a book outside her caravan, said: “At first, I couldn’t believe my eyes – it’s not every day you see royalty lowering the van legs and setting her awning out. Her Majesty even taught us the royal wave! “It’s great to see her on such top form – if I can look half as good as she does when I get to her age, I’ll be delighted.” Her Royal Highness was pictured using the Coachman Kimberley, which can be found at nearby Kimberley – The Caravan & Motorhome People. Onlookers remarked that the monarch was spotted sipping on cocktails, polishing her caravan an hanging out her royal bloomers. Wearing a pair of perfect pink rubber gloves, Her Majesty was even pictured washing up her pots and pans. The Summer months are approaching and is a time when the season becomes very busy around caravan, camping and leisure parks. SCH has been manufacturing machinery for many years to make life easier and save time around the park for owners and staff. The BT1 bin trailer is ideal for establishments with a very long drive where bins need to be at the roadside for weekly collections. They are often used on caravan, camping, leisure parks and any public area where waste bins have to be collected and transported to a central disposal point. Parks also use the bin trailer for other chores, for example, moving laundry, maintenance machinery and anything heavy around their sites.
