Wood Leisure Holiday Parks is celebrating being named a finalist in The Courier Business Awards during a milestone year for the family-owned company.
The Scottish company has been shortlisted in the Family Business category at The Courier Business Awards 2026, as it marks 45 years since Colin and Margaret Wood bought Blairgowrie Holiday Park in 1981.
From its beginnings at Blairgowrie, Wood Leisure has grown into a successful second-generation family business, with six holiday parks across Scotland and almost 500 holiday homeowners.
Today, all three of Colin and Margaret’s daughters are involved at the helm of the business, continuing the family values on which Wood Leisure was founded. The third generation is now also beginning to play a part, working within the business during school and university holidays.
The company’s growth has seen Wood Leisure expand from its original Blairgowrie base to Lomond Woods at Loch Lomond, Corriefodly in Perthshire, Deeside in Aberdeenshire, Callander Woods in the Trossachs and, most recently, Faskally Woods in Pitlochry, which joined the group in 2024.
Throughout that growth, the commitment and passion of the Wood family and the wider team, together with the family values at the heart of the business, have remained central to Wood Leisure’s development. Those same qualities will continue to be important in supporting the long-term sustainability and future growth of the business.
Sarah Wood MacGregor, Director of Wood Leisure, said: “Being shortlisted for a Family Business award is always very special to us, but to receive this recognition as we celebrate our 45th anniversary makes it even more meaningful.
“When Mum and Dad bought Blairgowrie Holiday Park in 1981, there were just a few holiday homes in a field. I don’t think they could have imagined then that, 45 years later, Wood Leisure would have grown to six holiday parks across Scotland, with the second generation leading the business and the third generation now beginning to get involved too.
“We are very proud of how Wood Leisure has grown, but we have always tried to retain the same family values that Mum and Dad established from the beginning – looking after our customers, maintaining high standards and continually investing in our parks and our people.
“Family business for us also extends far beyond the Wood family. We have a fantastic team across our six parks and head office, and their commitment, passion, hard work and care for our guests have been fundamental to everything we have achieved.
“As we look to the future, retaining those family values while continuing to evolve and invest will be vital to the long-term sustainability of Wood Leisure. To be recognised in this way during our 45th anniversary year is very special for our family and for the whole Wood Leisure team.”
