New websites make booking a holiday even easier with Bridge Leisure

Bridge Leisure websites

UK Holiday park owner and operator Bridge Leisure Company, have today launched new websites for eight of its owned holiday parks, making it faster and easier for customers to find the information they need and to book their holidays online.

They have also created a brand-new Bridge Leisure company website consolidating Bridge Leisure Parks and Bridge Leisure Management into one place, showcasing what services the business has to offer.

The new websites were designed by Cornwall based IT specialists, Pitched, who are experts in website design for holiday parks across the UK. The project has taken 7 to months to complete and has seen a complete redesign of the both the look, feel and functionality of the park websites.

45% of Brits Are Planning on Spending Christmas Away From Home

45% of Brits Are Planning on Spending Christmas Away From Home

As Christmas approaches a recent survey by Away Resorts, leading park operator and holiday home provider, discovers 45% of Brits will be going away this Christmas, but 24% plan on staying in the UK.

In contrast, only 21% of Brits are opting to go abroad over the holiday season and nearly half of those (8%) will be in their overseas chateaus.

This is very similar to the number staying in UK holiday homes (6%) suggesting this is becoming a popular way for Brits to invest their money.

How Cumbria park is smoothing the way for fell walkers

Cumbria park staff with charity donation

The family owners of a Windermere holiday park have taken fundraising in their stride and donated over £2,000 to help repair hundreds of much-loved upland paths in Cumbria.

Park Cliffe on the shores of Windermere put its best foot forward on behalf of the Fix the Fells appeal which makes vital repairs to 330 trails throughout the Lake District.

The sum results from twelve busy months of money-raising activities at the popular park, ranging from quizzes, raffles and a duck race to a bonfire night in November.

Park guests are also invited to make a voluntary donation when they book their stay online – an option which the vast majority take up, according to business owner Susan Dickson.

Oxon caravan park named best in the Heart of England by AA

A popular five-star Shrewsbury touring caravan and motorhome park has been named the AA Heart of England Campsite of the Year for 2019.

Oxon Hall Touring Park was informed of the award as the 2019 edition of the AA Caravan & Camping Guide was published. The guide features the very best spots for caravanning and camping in Britain.

It’s not the first time the park, which is owned by Shrewsbury-based Morris Leisure, has been successful in the awards, having been named AA Campsite of the Year for England in 2006.

The winning team from Oxon Hall will receive the award at the AA 2019 Camping Awards presentation lunch in Stratford Upon Avon in February.

‘Santastic’ response to fundraising Salop Santa Dash

Salop Santa Dash

More than 300 runners, joggers and walkers of all ages entered the Christmas spirit by dressing up as Santa for this year’s Salop Santa Dash in Shrewsbury on Sunday.

The event, which raised £500 for the Zac Oliver Appeal, was declared a big success by organiser Salop Leisure.

The Santas could choose to run, jog or walk one or two laps of a 2.5-kilometre circuit around the 55-acre grounds of Salop Leisure and the Love2Stay resort.

The first runner completed the two laps in 19 minutes whereas others who were pushing children in pushchairs jogged and walked at a more leisurely pace.

Callander Woods Holiday Park Under New Ownership

Callander Woods Holiday Park

Summer saw the launch of a substantial investment project at Callander Woods Holiday Park, following its acquisition earlier this year by Wood Leisure. Located in the popular tourist town of Callander, Callander Woods holiday park is at the Eastern gateway to the Trossachs National Park and the dramatic Loch Lomond. It is also on the Rob Roy Way and the Birds of Prey Trail and is close to the famous Bracklinn Falls and the stunning Loch Katrine – meaning holiday makers can enjoy a great range of activities in the area. Within the upgrade plan, the majority of older static caravans have been upgraded to meet the high standards set within the holiday park group. In addition, brand new 2018 caravan holiday homes were introduced to the park.

Has the ‘Instagram effect’ hit caravanning, too?

Just this October, the iconic Club 18-30 was axed by holidaymakers Thomas Cook after a decade of plummeting sales. What brought Club 18-30’s inter-generational success to a relatively abrupt end? Thomas Cook blamed the rise of ‘ego travel’.

Essentially, this means people care more and more about what others think of their holidaying choices. Pictures snapped on holiday, therefore, must look luxurious. Anything else – such as those £300 package holidays in budget hotels – no longer cut the mustard.

Exciting new tours for Worldwide Motorhoming Holidays

Tours with Worldwide Motorhoming Holidays

Worldwide Motorhoming Holidays from The Camping and Caravanning Club has launched two new tours for 2019-20. The first tour, ‘Highlights of Sri Lanka’, is a shorter version of the popular ‘Splendours of Sri Lanka’ tour, first launched in October 2017. The new tour, as with the longer 30-day tour, is chauffeur-driven and covers all of the country’s top attractions in just 14 days.

The tour taps into the boom in overseas visitors to Sri Lanka; the number of inbound visitors to this island nation have increased from just over a million in 2012, to 2.7 million in 2017 and is expected to grow to 3 million or more by 2022.*
