Beautiful Sundecks that Needn’t Cost the Earth

The Mayfield Group are a leading manufacturer, supplier and installer of UPVC sundecks to the Park Home and Residential Home sector and has built an enviable reputation over the last 33 years based on quality and value for money.

A sundeck is a perfect way to enjoy the outdoor life, whether it’s having breakfast watching the sunrise or enjoying the sunset with family and friends over a cool drink, they are the ideal extension to your living space.

It’s always worth considering what you intend to use your deck for i.e. purely access or maybe entertaining, relaxing or dining in style. Once decided, you should think about how much space you are likely to need (don’t forget to check with your Park if there are any restrictions) and what sort of accessibility you need i.e. steps or ramps. To set your sundeck apart, you could add some finishing touches including gates to keep small children and pets safe, lights to welcome you home at night and give you more time to use the deck, or perhaps even a hot tub (if your park allows them) for the ultimate luxury.

Choosing the right colour is another important consideration with many owners following the colour scheme of their home with a slight contrast. Among the most popular colours are light and dark brown, light and dark grey, cream and pale green. Balustrades, steps, and gates can also be colour coordinated, as can skirting.

So Why Choose UPVC?

mayfieldNobody really wants the hassle of having to maintain wooden decks which need regular cleaning and treatment to preserve their condition. Mayfield sundecks are virtually maintenance-free and have been designed to enhance the look of your home as well as increase its value and have become a popular choice. Fully tested and certified to BS 5395, the Hampton range carries a 12-year Colourfast warranty as well as having stain and anti-slip resistance.

A quick pressure wash at the start of the season is all that is needed, and Mayfield has even produced a “Washbomb” to make cleaning decks easier. Owners do need to take care though and should remove any furniture likely to rust over the Winter months to avoid having to get rid of stubborn stains.

Custom-Built doesn’t have to mean custom-price and you will be pleasantly surprised at how competitively priced UPVC decking is compared to other materials especially given their exceptional durability and low maintenance benefits.

What may come as an even bigger surprise is discovering that a UPVC deck can in fact be a greener option than many other materials including timber.

Mayfield has long since taken the decision to use 100% recycled raw materials in the manufacturing of their UPVC deck boards. Sourcing these materials has many advantages not least that they require less energy in their production when compared to using virgin plastics. At the end of their considerable life, Mayfield Decks can be completely recycled avoiding the need for landfills. The company didn’t stop there though, and with the majority of decks traditionally built using timber

subframes, Mayfield were keen to offer their customers an alternative without comprising on quality, cost and speed of installation. Aluminium seemed like an obvious choice and with ever-increasing prices for timber coupled with the benefits of improved strength and durability, Mayfield now offer customers an even more sustainable range.

mayfieldSundecks provide an elevated position, so it is important to make sure that everyone is kept safe.

Mayfield have a range of attractive UPVC balustrades in a picket-post style which complement the design of your home and sundeck and for those with a view or simply adding an extra touch of luxury, glass balustrades can be fitted using 10mm toughened safety glass as standard. These also provide the perfect windbreak without spoiling your outlook.

Talking of drafts, it’s become very popular to have skirting wrapped around the base of your home and sundeck which not only helps with insulation but also hides unsightly pipes and cables. A small hatchway provides easy access.

There’s more to Mayfield than sundecks though. The company is constantly innovating and creating designs so for those wanting the “wow” factor with their sundeck so thanks to some brilliant thinking, you can enjoy a purpose-built Snug all year round or perhaps a canopy over the front door which shelters you from light showers while you find your keys. Managing Director Mike Jarmey says “we like nothing more than throwing away the rule book and coming up with unique designs for our customers – no challenge is too great!”

A Friendly Service

Friendly service and value for money are Mayfield’s hallmark that remains a family run business and this extends into their UK wide network of National Dealers.

Mayfield owner Debbie Jarmey says “our Dealers are very much part of the family business, and we continue to learn and grow together. They ensure every customer, no matter where they are, gets a personal, prompt and professional service from a qualified member of the team who can give impartial advice. This ensures each customer gets the perfect deck that suits their individual needs and more importantly, their budget.”
