Willerby strikes a pose for 80th anniversary

Holiday home manufacturer Willerby has launched the latest evolution of the iconic Willerby Vogue to celebrate the market leader’s 80th anniversary. The Vogue is rooted in Willerby’s rich heritage, as its flagship model and a much-loved name in the holiday homes industry for decades. Synonymous with quality and prestige, Willerby’s latest edition of the Vogue is a bold new take on a classic, designed to turn heads and stand out on any holiday park. Willerby is celebrating its 80th birthday in 2026 and has announced the Vogue as its flagship new model for the milestone year. The stunning new edition aims to reaffirm the Vogue’s status as the most desirable single holiday home on the market. Holiday park operators and holiday home dealers were the first to view the new Vogue at Willerby’s Hull Showground, as the company hosted a special reveal event as part of the Hull and East Riding Caravan Manufacturers’ Association (HERCMA) 2026 Showcase. Willerby Chief Commercial Officer Darren Black said: “The Vogue is the jewel in the Willerby crown and has been an integral part of our story for decades, dating back at least to the 1950s.  “There could be no better way to herald our 80th birthday year than by unveiling the latest version of our most prestigious model. “The Vogue has come a long way over the years, but one thing that has never changed is its reputation for style, quality and excellence. With this latest edition, we’ve designed and built a holiday home which will be the centre of attention on any holiday park. “We believe it’s the very best model on the market, in terms of design, content and specification, and the feedback from customers has been incredibly positive. It’s really got the industry talking!” The 80th anniversary edition of the Vogue is a statement model, combining an exterior wow factor, with interior luxury. It features a striking external design which blends the look and feel of a prestige holiday home with more traditional residential features, including transferring Willerby’s innovative park home wall construction method to the holiday home sector. Georgian-style windows, a dormer roof and true black architectural features give the Vogue a premium, quality aesthetic, with a mix of vertical and horizontal cladding. At the front of the Vogue is a triple sliding door – a first for the holiday homes market – with a large feature window on the side looking into the dining room. Stylish exterior lighting provides a soft, ambient tone, illuminating the Vogue on the park after dark. Stepping inside, light pours in through floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a sense of space, calm and effortless style, with luxurious details and furnishings adding a touch of indulgence. The Vogue has two bedrooms, a bathroom and an ensuite. At the heart of the model is a stunning kitchen, complete with a large island – a first for the Vogue – and integrated induction hob, inviting guests to gather together, to cook, dine and socialise. Influenced by the latest high street trends, the open-plan living and dining room has been designed to maximise and prioritise space, while a traditional fireplace creates a cosy, homely feel on cooler nights. The lounge is made for relaxing, with a statement media unit that combines wood panelling, glass shelves and a moody dark marble-effect finish. In the master bedroom, a sliding full-length mirror conceals both an ensuite bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe. Staying up to date with the latest styles, both bedrooms feature fluted cabinets, with wireless chargers located inside the bedside drawers for convenience. As well as its elegant design, layout and features, the Vogue also offers outstanding build quality and energy efficiency, including new wall construction that makes it feel more like a residential park home than a traditional holiday home. The development of the Vogue has been influenced by survey responses from almost 400 Willerby Owners’ Club members. Members were asked what features, styles and finishings were most important to them, to ensure the Vogue meets the evolving wants and needs of discerning holiday home owners. Willerby Senior Product Manager Josh Mills said: “With this anniversary edition of the Vogue we’re returning the model to its rightful place at the absolute peak of our industry. “It showcases Willerby at our best – combining our 80 years of manufacturing expertise with cutting-edge style and content. “The Vogue isn’t just a holiday home – it’s a statement. It will be the centrepiece of our 80th year celebrations and will turn heads and steal hearts on holiday parks across the country.” Among the first customers to see the new Vogue were Southern Counties Leisure Owner and Managing Director, Amanda Keen, and Bridlington Caravan Centre Sales Manager, Natasha Westaby.  Amanda said: “The new Vogue is stunning from start to finish – the Willerby team have really excelled themselves with this one. It’s certainly a holiday home that people will walk into and say ‘wow’. “The Vogue has an executive and deluxe ambience, and sitting in the living room you get a feel of just how spacious and comfortable it is.  “I’m really impressed with the attention to detail throughout. You can see the quality in everything, from the luxury armchairs, to the door handles and lots of other finishing touches.”  Natasha added: “The Vogue has great kerb appeal, and the black window frames, exterior lights and light-up Willerby logo will really set it apart on holiday parks. “The interior is really modern and I like the island which provides extra worktop space without compromising on the spacious feel of the kitchen and living room. “The new wallboards are definitely a standout feature and complement the neutral colour pallette to create a contemporary look, and the new shower screens really elevate the bathroom.”  The Vogue is a 43ft x 14ft two-bedroom model and is available to order immediately.  Joining the Vogue as a new model for 2026 is the mid-range Salisbury, available in two or three-bedroom and 35ft x 12ft or 38ft x 12ft options,

Firework-Free Stays

Firework-Free Stays: A Calmer Bonfire Night for You and Your Dog With millions of dogs distressed during firework season, Shacks offers a quiet countryside retreat to help pets – and their owners – find peace away from the noise. Bonfire Night is a much-loved British tradition – dazzling displays, the smell of woodsmoke in the air and the sparkle of fireworks lighting up the sky. But for our four-legged friends, those bright bursts of light and sudden bangs can be terrifying. Research from the The PDSA shows that 40% of dogs – around 3.6 million pets in the UK – are afraid of fireworks, with many showing signs of stress such as trembling, barking, hiding or even attempting to escape. The Kennel Club has also reported that the number of dogs going missing doubles during fireworks season, making this not just a stressful time but a serious animal welfare issue. The Challenge: Tradition vs. Wellbeing While fireworks are a cherished part of Bonfire Night celebrations, they come with a hidden cost. For dogs, fireworks are unexpected and overwhelming – loud, unpredictable explosions of sound and light they can’t understand. Pros of fireworks: Cons for dogs and their owners: Many pet owners are left feeling torn, they don’t want to dampen the celebrations but they also don’t want their dog to suffer. A Solution: Peaceful Escapes in Nature For those looking for a way to truly get away from the chaos, Shacks offers wild luxury escapes tucked far from city streets and noisy neighbourhoods. Staying in a Shack means: “Our spaniel hates fireworks, so Bonfire Night is usually full of stress andsleepless nights. This year, we stayed at a Shack and it was transformative — she slept by the fire while we sat under the stars. It felt like we’d swapped chaos for calm.”– Shacks guest, November 2024 Tips to Make the Most of Your Stay Even with a quieter setting, preparation is key. Here’s how to help your dog feel safe: Animal Welfare Matters As more people become aware of the impact of fireworks on animals, conversations are growing around creating safer celebrations. We’re aware of places that have started started using silent fireworks for public displays, offering a compromise between tradition and animal wellbeing. “As a dog owner myself, I know how stressful Bonfire Night can be. A stay at Shacks offers reassurance – a quiet space where you and your dog can truly relax, surrounded by nature instead of noise.”– Harry Tomkinson, Founder of Shacks Packing List for a Peaceful Bonfire Night: lauren@shacks.co.uk

Glamping finally breaks the ‘canvas ceiling’

RMS, the leading hospitality platform for hotels, serviced apartments, vacation rentals, and outdoor accommodations, today released its 2025 State of Outdoor Hospitality Report. Based on responses from over 550 U.S. campers, from tent traditionalists to van-lifers and RVers, the report reveals that upscale outdoor stays have finally broken the “canvas ceiling.” Options such as luxury yurts, domes, and treehouses now account for 29% of first-choice accommodations, a five-point rise over 2024 and, for the first time, equal to tents. While enthusiasm for camping remains strong, concerns about government staffing cuts are rising with 43% of respondents worried these reductions could erode the national park experience. Economic pressures are also front of mind, with 45% saying financial uncertainty may limit their trips in the year ahead. Generational preferences continue to shape the landscape. Glamping attracts nearly a third of Gen Z campers, while Millennials lean into tents, and Gen X and Boomers gravitate toward RVs. Most respondents are occasional campers, taking one or two trips a year, yet 58% say they would camp more often if time and money allowed. The report also found that technology is reshaping how outdoor stays are booked. 64% of travelers now book directly on a campground’s website, and fewer than one in ten use a desktop. Fast follow-up matters, too, with 61% of respondents reporting that receiving a confirmation email or text as “extremely” or “very” important. Adam Seskis, CEO at RMS said: “The fact that glamping has now matched traditional camping as a top accommodation choice is a clear sign that comfort and convenience are no longer just nice-to-haves, they’re now expected.  “This report shows that for campsite operators three things matter most. First, ensure your booking experience is effortless on a phone as most guests won’t switch to a computer. Second, treat automated messages such as confirmations and pre-arrival notes as opportunities to add value, whether that’s a welcome hamper for glampers or an extended-stay offer for RV guests. Third, keep pricing transparent and deposits flexible so guests feel confident booking even when budgets are tight.  “In summary, keep mobile booking simple, add thoughtful extras, and be clear on pricing to set yourself up well for the year ahead.” Beyond logistics, the report reveals how camper motivations vary by segment. Glampers and van campers are the most budget-conscious, but also the most likely to pay for comfort-enhancing extras such as welcome hampers, premium linens and bookable hot-tub sessions. RVers prioritize reliable hookups and on-site activities as top priorities. Meanwhile, younger tent campers are increasingly influenced by social media, although stunning scenery remains the number one draw across all groups, cited by nearly half of all respondents. The 2025 State of the Outdoor Hospitality Report not only details these findings but also offers actionable tips for operators on how to capitalize on them, from optimising mobile checkout flows to curating premium add-ons that resonate with glampers. The full report, along with a first look at RMS’s new branding, can be downloaded free of charge at https://www.rmscloud.com/rms-resources-2025-state-of-outdoor-hospitality-report

Sustainability and low maintenance in holiday parks

Sustainability has been creeping up the agenda in every corner of life, and as more people holiday in the UK, there is more pressure for the holiday park sector to stay ahead of the eco-conscious curve. Sustainable building products can be a quick and easy solution with outstanding results.     The popularity of UK holiday parks continues to increase in the UK as domestic holiday makers look for a more affordable way to get away from it all. But as the sector enjoys more bookings, the pressure is on to keep standards high. Not just in terms of providing quality, clean lodgings, but also in terms of showing a commitment to sustainability. While a lot has already been done to make parks more sustainable, there is still a lot of potential to upgrade and future proof the very fabric of holiday homes. Sustainability is already on the radar of UK holiday parks but as a survey of 666 holiday park operators by the UK Caravan & Camping Alliance (UKCCA) demonstrated, while most providers are implementing sustainable initiatives like more recycling, or conserving water and energy, there is still a lot of potential to improve the sustainability of the caravans, lodges and mobile homes themselves.  profine UK has been designing and developing window and door systems since 1954 but has more recently been quietly shaping the future of sustainable building products. As a design-led, environmentally conscious manufacturer, the company is perfectly positioned to support the holiday park industry in its move towards greater sustainability.  The most innovative company you have never heard of MD of profine UK, Robert Thiroff, explains how the company’s established offering is the perfect solution for UK holiday and residential lodges, mobile homes and caravans. “Although our roots are in PVC window and door systems, we have been operating somewhat under the radar in the building products space for some time and have more recently added decking, balustrading, cladding, fencing, and internal panels to our portfolio – all with sustainability at their core. With this complete offering now in place, we are ready to share our story far and wide.  “All of our building products are made to our exacting standards, often offer technically better features than our competitors, and have been manufactured with a genuine company-wide commitment to sustainability. Our new extruded decking system, for example, is made using up to 98% recycled material, including old window frames. Every window we take out and every off cut from our fabricators comes back to us for a stringent process of prepping the material for recycling. We strip away any steel, aluminium or glass and re-extrude what is left into new products. And these new products are outperforming the market.” Surpassing expectations The building products manufactured by profine using recycled materials come without compromise for holiday park operators. The range of decking looks superb, but it also surpasses traditional timber because it doesn’t warp, twist or rot over time, and it is anti-slip, weather resistant and colourfast, without needing lots of ongoing maintenance.  profine also offers an integrated balustrading solution that suites in with the high-performance decking and equally performs for the long term, again without the time-consuming maintenance that is necessary with timber alternatives. As an integrated system, the colour can remain consistent across all capping, trims, posts, and ancillaries for an elevated, premium look.  The system also has an expected lifespan of 25 years, ensuring a durable and therefore cost-effective solution.   The colour-matching capabilities continue for the whole environment too. Thanks to the complete range on offer from profine UK and its sister brands including Kömmerling and WarmCore, windows, doors, decking, balustrading and fencing are all available in complementary colours. Even foiled aluminium doors can be matched with the PVC systems for a cohesive finish. This suited look can bring a premium feel to the whole environment and gives an excellent first impression for people browsing for their next break.  Eco-conscious manufacturing to deliver top end products  “Our recycled building materials offer holiday parks a top-end option,” continues Thiroff, “because they deliver on durability and consistency. And our Greenline range takes the commitment even further by giving customers a visible signpost to the recycled origins of the materials, proving that eco-conscious manufacturing can deliver the very best in performance as well as aesthetics.” The company’s WarmCore brand continues the commitment to innovation with a hybrid aluminium system with a PVC-U core that delivers up to 25% better thermal performance than conventional aluminium frames. And with no compromise to aesthetics, keeping the slim frames people have come to expect from aluminium. The WarmCore system is also manufactured using recycled materials.  It’s what’s on the inside that counts But it’s not just about the outside, the inside of a caravan or mobile home is just as important.  Thiroff explains how the company can help upgrade an interior space too: “profine manufactures laminated wall panels that can be used to renovate a space quickly and easily. For example, if a bathroom or bedroom looks a bit tired, our panels can be added without removing any tiles or disturbing any services. We have already supplied the same panels to renovate Disney hotels and McDonalds restaurants, so tweaking this expertise for the holiday park market has been easy to do. “There is an increasingly urgent need among caravan and mobile home owners and on a larger scale among holiday park operators to future proof holiday park accommodation with premium, sustainable, low maintenance building materials, and our suite of products allows them to do just that.” profine UK is a force to be reckoned with profiling over a 700 million euros globally, but it is the UK operation based in Huthwaite that is spearheading the movement towards high-quality, design driven products that are made from recycled materials. And it is this range of products that are being tailored for the specific needs of the UK holiday and residential caravan, lodge and mobile home market, to provide a long-term sustainable

Andy still enjoying work at Salop Leisure after 30 years service

An associate director at a multi-award-winning Shropshire leisure company is celebrating 30 years’ service. As associate director of retail and premises, Andy Harding’s wide-ranging role at Shrewsbury-based Salop Leisure also covers the adjoining, award-winning Love2Stay touring and glamping resort, which he oversees. Having started his career in car sales at Mercedes Benz in Shrewsbury, it wasn’t long before he swapped to touring caravan sales at Salop Leisure for seven years and then became manager of the company’s accessories shop for 23 years. He spent some time as joint general manager of Love2 Stay before being promoted to his current role. “When I joined the company, which was then known as Salop Caravans, on May 15, 1995, we had 35 members of staff on a 1.25 acre site at Meole Brace,” said Andy, 48, who lives at Meole Village. “Now we have 250 staff and a 50-acre site. “I am lucky because I still enjoy coming to work after 30 years. In fact, my partner, Zoe, says I put work before her because my phone is on 24 hours a day, seven days a week in my role! “There is very much a family atmosphere at Salop Leisure and I enjoy being part of the big family. It’s a lovely industry to work in because the people we meet are here for leisure or going on holiday and have a very positive attitude. “Only last week, I met a couple from Cannock who bought an Abbey Spectrum touring caravan from me 26 years ago! I have met so many people who have become good friends over the years. “For example, I work at caravan shows twice a year and I have seen the same people there for decades. We are part of a friendly community and have a good relationship with other dealerships.” Salop Leisure’s joint managing director Mike Harris said: “Congratulations to Andy for reaching this significant service milestone with the company. He has risen through the ranks deservedly due to hard work, dedication and loyalty over the past 30 years.” https://www.salopleisure.co.uk

Planting to grow your business

Hedge Planting With decades of firsthand experience in supplying the holiday park industry, as well as expert horticultural knowledge and advice, Wykeham Mature Plants are experts in supplying instant transformations tailored to the site conditions and to the requirements of your business.  Developing ongoing relationships with clients is key in helping them to grow their business and to provide their guests with an experience that they will want to revisit time and again. Supplying the trade with high quality large trees, specimen shrubs, instant hedging and screening plants for over forty five years, Wykeham Mature Plants spans over 150 acres of nursery, located in a frost pocket ten miles from Scarborough; the Yorkshire-grown stock is guaranteed to be hardy and free from imported pests and diseases. Nationwide delivery is available, and for sites located within a hundred miles or so from the nursery, site visits are available to provide consultations on your site and, if required, a professional and guaranteed expert planting service to help give your scheme the best possible start, as well as ongoing advice regarding their aftercare. As all successful operators know, a holiday park business cannot rely solely on their location or the surrounding countryside and must provide attractive, functional spaces to make their site a destination in itself. Failing to understand the business need for well-maintained outdoor spaces, especially in failing to see them through the eyes of your customers, will lead to poor budgetary decisions and missed opportunities – and failing to understand the conditions on site prior to planting may lead to costly mistakes.   At Wykeham Mature Plants we have real hands-on experience of planting and growing in a wide range of different conditions on different leisure sites for different purposes and for different business reasons. As well as guiding you to the best planting options to thrive in the growing conditions on your site, we can also help you to identify the areas on which to prioritise spending, ie on what is essential and urgent, such as security, privacy and shelter planting and also on planning issues, then on what is urgent and of benefit, such as an attractive entrance and reception/office area, then on what is essential but less urgent (such as areas where you can afford to plant smaller stock and wait for them to grow), and only then look at the “nice to haves”. Don’t get carried away allocating budget on highly ornamental areas if security and privacy issues haven’t yet been addressed or if messy bin areas need to be screened off! The importance of hedges Around the British countryside, screening and shelter has traditionally been provided by hedgerows – and since many leisure sites have been developed from farmland, these country hedges persist on the majority of holiday parks. As well as marking boundaries and providing security, these hedges provide a haven for wildlife and absorb CO2 from the air, helping to combat climate change. From a more practical stand-point, hedging makes sense as it doesn’t require planning permission, is far less likely to blow down than a fence and provides better security as it is harder to climb over. It absorbs sound, often cutting down noise far better than a solid screen such as a fence or wall, and rather than having to be replaced every few years, such as is invariably the case with fencing, a hedge can outlive its owner! Obviously, there can never be a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to what plants should be used for hedging as different conditions on site will dictate what will grow there, and what the hedge is to be used for will also dictate plant selection, just as importance and urgency to the business versus budgetary limitations may also affect the size and maturity of the plants used, as will the level of aftercare (such as watering) required. Boundary hedges These are often the starting point to the landscaping and planting of most sites as they often predate the business by many years. However, do not neglect or ignore their importance. Boundary hedges are often your site’s primary security barrier to deter trespassers, they may provide shelter (especially in exposed and/or coastal locations) as well as to screen unsightly views. However, it is important to be considerate to your neighbours when planting on boundaries to avoid potential legal disputes (we can guide you through issues such as the High Hedge Legislation but for specific cases you should always seek professional legal advice) and may also be a factor in any planning applications you may make. For boundary hedges it is especially important to consider the possibility of grazing by livestock on adjacent land as well as to plant sympathetically to the surrounding landscape. Traditional “field” hedging Field hedges in Britain have most commonly been predominantly Hawthorn (as it is easy to grow from cuttings, is tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions, and forms a dense, thorny hedge to contain livestock) into which other species colonise over time. Hawthorn would normally be planted as bare-rooted whips during the winter, which is certainly the cheapest way when there are long distances to plant, but when something more instant is needed, such as to extend an existing hedge or to replace damage from a vehicle collision, we supply Hawthorn in 20ltr pots, with three or four plants per pot for increased density, to be planted two pots per metre for an instant hedge, starting at 150cm (5ft) and above. Security hedging Whether for deterring trespassers and potential thieves at the boundaries of the site or for discouraging curious guests from private “employee-only” areas within the site, hedges provide a simple security solution. In most cases a hedge tall enough to not see over and dense enough to not see through or push through is usually sufficient. Therefore, something fast-growing, or planted at a more mature size, fits the bill. For higher risk areas an additional deterrent may be necessary, so thorny or prickly options may be

Saniflo launches Clear Water pump range

Saniflo is pleased to announce the launch of the brand new Clear Water pump range — a complete line-up of innovative pumps designed for the collection, distribution, and pressurisation of clean water. Building on over 70 years of expertise in wastewater management, Saniflo’s Clear Water range now offers robust, sustainable solutions for clear water applications, including jet pumps, booster pumps, submersible pumps and underground lifting stations.   Whether it’s for rainwater collection, garden irrigation, draining basements, or boosting water pressure in domestic systems, the Clear Water range has a high-performance product to suit every need. Sanijet is a range of 5 stainless steel centrifugal surface pumps optimised by a Venturi (jet) system for increased suction up to 8m. Automated for on-demand and self-priming for a simple start, the pumps have a max head between 50 and 54m and max flow rate from 3.6m³ up to 5m³.  SaniMHP is a 10-strong range of multi-stage surface water pumps ideal for irrigation, rainwater use and water supply. From the 4-40 through to the 9-50 PC4 model offering max head ranges from 40m to 52m and max flow from 4m³ to 8.7m³, there is a model that will tackle pretty much every clean water movement requirement. With 4 models in the range and max head capacities between 40 – 54m, the new Saniboost range is a domesticbooster pump ideal for optimised and smooth water supply. Max flow from 3.6m³ to 5m³ ensures there is a model to increase and regulate the pressure of water collected in most sizes of domestic water tank and the units operate automatically and are particularly suited for low-flow consumption. A Saniboost includes a buffer tank that limits the frequent starts and stops of the pump to which reduces noise disturbances and wear on the product. Each model offers guaranteed service pressure on drip irrigation installations or automatic flush mechanisms.  Sanisub is a family of submersible pumps designed for a variety of applications including flood recover, basement drainage, rainwater re-use and, in some cases, light commercial operations.  With flow rates between 9–15m³/hour and heads up to 11m, Sanisub models like the ZPK, 800 Rainkit, and Steel + Emergency Kit provide powerful, reliable water management for challenging environments. The Sanifos range offers two pre-assembled lifting stations with 110L and 280L capacities for the management of grey or treated water. With four inlets, flow rates up to 14m³/hour and heads of 7-10m the robust Sanifos can be discretely installed underground to move water from buildings, garden rooms and multiple small units – such as pods.  From a sustainability perspective, the Clear Water pump range promotes responsible water reuse and offers eco-conscious solutions that support the full water cycle—from collection and storage to redistribution. By enabling the reuse of grey water and alternative water sources like rivers, pools, and rainwater, these pumps help reduce demand on treated mains supply. The addition of the Clear Water means that Saniflo is now a one-stop-show for all water management requirements; offering complete solutions for both wastewater and clean water applications. Whether you need to flush, drain, or pump — above or below ground — Saniflo provides easy-to-install, reliable systems designed to perform automatically with minimal maintenance.
