Cumbria park marches to victory in tourism awards

Cumbria park

Skelwith Fold caravan park in Ambleside has been crowned as Lakeland's top holiday park in June's closely-fought Cumbria Tourism Awards.

The family-run business trumped more than 100 eligible parks in the county to take the overall gold accolade in the holiday parks category of the competition.

And now park director Henry Wild says he will use the award to shine the national spotlight on Cumbria's "amazing and diverse" parks industry.

Stepping up to receive the Cumbria Tourism honour at the glittering awards ceremony at Cartmel Racecourse was Henry and members of the park team.

How ANPR can help make your caravan park secure

Security

Every caravan park owner needs a secure site. Not only do you need to look after your onsite caravans, but your guests too. Ensuring that the park is secure will make your visitors feel like they’re in the comfort and safety of their own home, making them more likely to return.  An insecure park may increase the chances of theft which in turn may negatively influence the quantity and quality of your guests. To ensure this doesn’t happen to your park, read on!

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), is a technology which detects registration plates, allowing the control of vehicles in and out of an area. This system allows managers to control who is entering their site and makes it easier as their site grows.

How to Make Sure Your Guests Are Towing Safely

towing caravan

Needless to say, caravanning veterans are no strangers to towing, or the safety requirements and legalities surrounding it. But for those that are just dipping their toes into the world of caravanning, it’s an extremely exhilarating yet daunting time.

It may seem as though both UK and EU regulations are ever-evolving – where does one start in making sure that their caravan or tailor is safe and legally compliant before hitting the road?

If you work in a caravan park, you’re expected to be savvy and ‘in-the-know’ when it comes to towing. Your guests may request your help, advice or assistance in preparation for their journey. Would you be able to assist them, or even spot a potential problem before they take to the roads?

Holiday Park WiFi – Wireless alone doesn’t cut it!

Holiday Park WiFi – Wireless alone doesn’t cut it!

If you are serious about providing amazing Holiday Park WiFi across your site then you need to be thinking about the wired network as well.

Since we’ve been operating in the WiFi market, it's been standard practice to place access points around a site, using 2.4 GHz for the client access and 5ghz for the backhaul network. Each access point is shared between around 30 Static Caravans, and each Caravan could have 4-10 devices. As you can imagine, 300-400 devices per access point is never going to offer optimal connectivity. In fact, it will often totally overload the Wireless network resulting in an extremely frustrating time for your guests.

Lunar Reports "Best February Show Ever'

Lunar Caravans is reporting record sales of touring caravans following last month’s Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the Birmingham NEC.

Orders were 14.5% up on last February’s event making it the fourth consecutive year that the Lancashire based manufacturer has beaten its previous show performance.

The success follows ‘record’ sales taken at the Motorhome & Caravan Show in October (25%) and is evidence of Lunar’s widening brand and product appeal.

There was a stand out sales performance once again from the Clubman and Delta range, accounting for over 40% of all orders taken. Also retailing well on its first ‘Spring show’ outing were the three twin axle models from Lunar’s new premium brand, ‘Alaria’.
